Update on M.V Baltic Mercur delay due to Hurricane Sandy

Dear Customers and Partners,

The following update was received from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey yesterday.

Date: 31 October 2012

Time: 17:30

Post Sandy Update: 3

Channels: NOAA and US Army Corps of Engineers are in the process of surveying channels to ascertain any underwater obstructions. Waterside access to the Port’s channels is restricted by US Coast Guard until the surveys and any remediation actions are completed. It is anticipated that the surveys will be completed by this weekend.

Berths: The Port Authority is in the process of surveying berths for any underwater obstructions caused by Hurricane Sandy. It is anticipated that these surveys will be completed this weekend.

Terminals : All terminals sustained damage to varying degrees. They are in the process of assessing damage to cargo and equipment on terminal. Power has not yet been restored and once it is restored the terminals can assess the operating capabilities of their equipment. Estimated time line for restoration of power is at earliest this weekend.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP): CBP is assessing functionality of portable equipment presently on terminal and will test once electricity is restored. Customs exams stations (CES) are currently reviewing their operational status.

Rail Service: Rail service to and from the Port remains suspended. Rail carriers are in process of assessing any damage to their lines in the area impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

As result of the above, M.V. Baltic Mercur, voyage R2-38, will bypass New York on her westbound voyage and will proceed directly to Baltimore for discharge and load back of her export cargo. The vessel is expected to work in Baltimore from Saturday, 3rd November, through to Tuesday, 6th November. It is our intention that M.V. Baltic Mercur will call the Port of New York to complete discharge and to load back export freight on her eastbound voyage en-route to St Petersburg, subject that the port resumes its regular operations. We expect to receive more information on recovery of the Port of New York facilities by Monday, 6th November.

Thank you for your understanding.

m.v Baltic Mercur delays due to Hurricane Sandy

Dear Customer,

We are anticipating delays on arrival of m/v Baltic Mercur R2-38 to the ports of New York and Baltimore due to adverse weather conditions resulted from Hurricane Sandy. The port Authority of New York will be closing the port to all incoming and outgoing water traffic as of Sunday October 28th, and re-opening the port as soon as the weather conditions improve and are considered to be safe.

We anticipate the Port to re-open not earlier than Tuesday October 30th. Consequently, this will affect the arrival date of the vessel to Baltimore.

We apologize for any inconvenience.
